Written by Ruth Gordon and Garson Kanin, and directed by George Cukor, this sophisticated 1949 comedy pits Spencer Tracy’s sly listlessness against Katherine Hepburn’s strident personality. The sparks between them create that perfect chemistry the pair exhibited both on and off the screen. Making film debuts were David Wayne, Tom Ewell, and Jean Hagen. Gordon and Kanin received an Oscar nomination for best screenplay.
